INVOLVEMENT

What does it mean to be involved?

When negative legislation is proposed or adopted, it affects and alters the time and energy devoted to positive events as efforts are diverted to protecting our freedoms and those of our animals. It is extremely important to halt the negative influences of animal rights organizations so that energy can be devoted to all the beneficial effects that our animals can bring, such as having events that promote responsible dog ownership, etc. like showing our communities the countless types of work that our dogs are capable of doing

If Your animal Group is doing something special, call the Media. Communicate with them and get the word out

Another way to be involved is to participate in the legislative process. It can be done  by visiting the offices of politicians, Federal, State or local.  Read the following for even a more direct way to be involved in the process.

SAOVA's Lobbying Tutorial

Simply put, lobbying is advocacy of a point of view, either by groups or individuals. A special interest is nothing more than an identified group expressing a point of view - be it colleges and universities, churches, charities, public interest or environmental groups, senior citizens organizations, even state, local or foreign governments. While most people think of lobbyists only as paid professionals, there are also many independent, volunteer lobbyists - all of whom are protected by the same First Amendment. Bucks for Billboards THANK YOU and UPDATE by Kathy Grayson

The BUCKS FOR BILLBOARDS Campaign was a huge success! Thank you to all who donated! The Billboards have been up since July and there have been many sightings!

There was even a sighting last week.

We had a columnist from The Los Angeles Times notice one billboard within 4 days after it was up, and wrote a column about it in the opinion section. If you saw it online, it stirred up a hornet's nest. After that a paper in Northern California printed it and another hornet's nest was stirred up! A couple of weeks later an Animal Rights website wrote about the column that was in the LA Times and got it totally wrong, but that stirred up yet another hornets nest! All of this was good for US!

HSUS's Wayne Pacelli was interviewed by the LA Times columnist, and was upset that they are on the same billboard as Peta. Peta saw it and contacted the LAMAR sign company to complain about it and were told in a nice way to go pound sand. So they wrote to the CEO of LAMAR who basically gave them the same answer.

New York is starting a Bucks for Billboards Campaign with Patti Strand speaking about the billboards at a "Summit" involving many of the New York Kennel clubs and judges in November. So we could go Coast to Coast real soon!

Marion and I would like to thank all of the donors that made the first 100 billboards possible, we would love to list all of you but many of you told us you would like to remain anonymous. We had some All Breed Kennel Clubs, many Specialty Clubs, a Legislative group, a Real estate company and Many Many Breeders, Professional Handlers, even a few Veterinarians donate. Many of the checks were from out of state! We had donations from $5.00 to $600.00!

Thank You to ALL of YOU!

A BIG Thank you to NAIA's Patti Strand for helping with this venture. NAIA put up the ExposeAnimalRights.com website and is going Nation Wide with it to keep the ball rolling.

LAMAR Sign Company has offered another 100 Billboards, in Los Angeles, besides the 100 that are already up for the same low price. We can change the graphics for the new campaign. We (in California) are already 1/3 of the way there!

At Santa Barbara Show, an anonymous donor said he would match the first 5 donations since that show, we still have 2 donations that can be matched! We are hoping for a big one.

If you would like to see 100 more billboards go up in the Hollywood/ Los Angeles area,

please make your checks out to LAMAR Advertising. Send your donations to:
